About Us

In the beginning was...the story, and then came the storytellers. Storytelling has a long and continuous history, from early legends to modern shaggy dog stories. In many cultures storytellers are the keepers of history, the educators of young and the guiders of the not-so-young. Ramsey Storytellers are proud to continue the oral tradition. Each storytelling is unique, although the main story remains the same, it changes and adapts itself (almost organically) to each occasion.

Ramsey Storytellers believe that listening to a story is a completely different experience from reading a book or watching a play.

Formed in 2000, Ramsey Storytellers are a non-profit making group which works to bring the experience of storytelling to the community. They have told stories in many places such as local schools and libraries and even out in the open in the new Community Garden in Ramsey.

In January/February of each year events are held to mark National Storytelling Week.

We have also hosted professional storytellers and run and arranged workshops as part of our community activities.

If you would like to join us, head to the contact page (link is at the top, and bottom, of this page) and drop us an email, we are all friendly people and we promise we don't bite!
